Nuku Studio’s Art Residency at its Center for Photographic Research and Practice offers a home away from home, a quiet place to explore and experiment in a new environment. The 1-3 month residency program allows artists to work on a project of their choice, independently or through artistic exchanges with other local and international artists.
Nuku’s Center for Photographic Research and Practice is located in the heart of Tamale, a fast growing and developing city in Northern Ghana. It is Nuku´s mission to engage with the local community in Tamale and to nurture a sustainable creative working environment. Nuku Studio is well connected to other art centres in Tamale such as the Savannah Center for Contemporary Art, Red Clay and the Center for National Culture which allows artists of different disciplines to come together and exchange ideas.
As part of the Nuku’s Art Residency, artists are expected to present their work produced during the time of the residency and hold a public artist talk. Residents have the possibility to exhibit their work at Nuku Studio and engage in Nuku’s Creative Community Education Program.
Nuku Studio’s Art Resideny is open to artists of various disciplines such as photography, visual arts, writing, music, film making, performance, curatorial and educational research.
